In 1997 Telepaxx Software GmbH was the first company in Germany to introduce an external Picture Archiving and Communications System (PACS) medical imaging storage service. Since then, "e-pacs" as the service was branded has really taken off with the circle of users expanding to encompass major orthopedic and radiological surgeries, county hospitals, and municipal clinical centers with more than 1,200 beds.
